Nearby Sno-Parks

A trio of California's Sno-Parks are located nearby. One is back down the highway at the Spicer Meadow Road turnoff, the next is up the highway where the road is closed for the winter near Lake Alpine, and the newest one is up Highway 207 heading toward the ski resort. Watch for it on the right. A permit is required to park at the Sno-Park from November 1 through May 30. Day permits are $15, season permits are $40.

The Spicer Sno-Park is popular with cross country skiers, dog sled mushers and especially snowmobilers. Sledding is not very good there. The Lake Alpine Sno-Park has some places where sleds can make short runs. It often is very crowded. The third Sno-Park called Round Valley Sno-Park has a nice hill for sledding a short distance through the trees from the parking lot. Participants tube and sled at their own risk. A restroom is available beside the small parking lot.

Sno-Park permits can be purchased online with an additional $1.95 added to the price: Sno-Park Permits. Or permits may be purchased from local Sno-Park Permit Vendors.
