Tubes and sleds are provided and no outside equipment is permitted in the area. The Snowplay area has two slopes, one long, gentle run for sleds, the other is a tube run with high, banked turns. The tube course is open to everyone 36 inches or taller. Those under 36 inches may ride a sled with an adult on the sledding hill. Tubes are for one person at a time while sleds can accommodate 2 riders. Attendants monitor the slope and assist guests in riding safely.

Nearby Sno-Park

One of California's Sno-Parks is located off the same exit off Interstate 80 at Donner Summit as Boreal Mountain Resort. At the exit instead of turning right to the ski area, turn left to the Sno-Park. A permit is required to park at the Sno-Park from November 1 through May 30. Day permits are $15, season permits are $40.

The Donner Summit Sno-Park is popular with cross country skiers and snowmobilers. The level area around the parking lot is good for snow play, and a few small, undeveloped sliding hills can be found nearby.

Sno-Park permits can be purchased online with an additional $1.95 added to the price: Sno-Park Permits. Or permits may be purchased from local Sno-Park Permit Vendors.
